The League of Friends of Gosport War Memorial Hospital was formed in 1952 by a group of people wanting to play some part in assisting the running of the hospital. Since then, the League’s most important role is to enable local residents to be seen and treated in Gosport rather than going elsewhere.
The principle aim has been to provide funds to supplement the provisions of the NHS in order to give extra comfort to the patients and additional resources to the staff.
Throughout the year, members of the League have busy fundraising in a variety of ways, both large and small. Legacies and donations from grateful patients, relatives and friends also provide important financial assistance.
