Opening of the Poppy Ward garden in June 2021 by the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire, Nigel Atkinson and Gosport Mayor, Mark Hook (pictured below).
The whole ward has been optimised for people with dementia. The garden has soft surfacing so that patients will not hurt themselves if they fall over. It has also been designed in a series of loops so that patients can wander freely and not get stuck or lost.
The League of Friends was delighted to fund the purchase of compost and planters together with a wide range of plants, shrubs and small trees. We are most grateful to Stewarts Abbey Garden Centre in Titchfield for their professional advice in selecting appropriate plants.
